For the musician and products Jorde «Chiquis» Amaro, being part of the «Tributo al Rock Tapatío», a photographic exhibition dedicated to all those rock and roll artists who have made history in the City since the 60s, is a privilege.
The expo is open to the public for free and permanently in the Rock Mail, the shopping center that is next to the Hand Rock Hotel Guadalajara, on Avenida Vallarta.
“Knowing that you were summoned for a tribute to rock from Guadalajara is significant for me to have been in so many projects for many generations since 1982, when I was already playing with José Fors, for example, it’s cool”.
«I have had to be in different generations and I have had to see the growth and emergence of very important bands and artists, so it is incredible that they do this type of exercise, I would call it an encyclopedic piece of what has happened with rock, so that new generations can find out, “said the 52-year-old creative.
«Chiquis« Amaro, Sara Valenzuela (La Dosis), Sheila Ríos Alex Pérez «Orko» (Violet Blue), Abraham Calleros (Green Pastels), Gabty Martínez (Carmín), Tony Vieling (Los Spiders) and DJ César Cosío, among others, part of the exhibition, inaugurated on Friday night.
“Tributo al Rock Tapatío” also includes professionals who have been part of the rock movement in Guadalajara such as Enrique Blanc and Alejandro Tavares, music critic and promoter respectively.
“We came up with the idea of having a tribute to the rock musicians of Guadalajara with a photo gallery. There are around 40 images of different bands and artists that have marked the scene over the years.”
«The musicians were contacted to send us the material. Some were in charge of sending us the images directly, others contacted photographers who have done studio sessions or in full shows, so that they could give us the best, “said Verónica Bernal, organizer of the exhibition and administrator of Rock Mail.
In the exhibition there are also images of Jose Fors, Galo Ochoa, Carlos Avilez, Facha de la piedra, Fanko and the Afro Brothers, among other projects.
The idea, Bernal mentioned, is to gradually add photographs of other relevant artists and promoters of the industry.
